It's so sad... today Laver Bariu has died. This is very sad to both the Albanian community around the world but also the clarinet community. He has influenced music at its best. A true master of the clarinet.

Laver Bariu
(2 May 1929 - 26 January 2014) Born in Përmet, Albania. We have lost the father of the clarinet. Laver Bariu is known to be the "Genie of the clarinet". Both the Albanian and clarinet community will be very sad. He has influenced and invented a unique style of tune that have been used by thousands and thousands of clarinet players. His love of Albanian folk music made he want to play the clarinet. His work for the Albanian folk music industry is outstanding. A true master of the clarinet. He is known for playing the amazing "Kaba" a lovely instrumental song from Southern Albania. And here is a video of him celebrating 85 years of the wonderful Laver Bariu last year: |
