Μέγεθος καλαμιού(reed number)
#4
hehe smack dab in the center..(:-)))))

Ok, this is a really important question here so let me analyze it in detail and in bullet points:

-A) The most critical factor in tuning is.............you the player! You need to build control for pitch, color, shape (voicing), tongue position. All these you need to maintain consistency and repeatability. Otherwise you may move your tongue back or down while you play higher notes and that introduces another variable to how the tone will come out.
So take home message: In order to tune your clarinet, or see if your clarinet is in tune you first need to make sure your voicing and tongue are consistent!

-B) Temperature!!!
Cold room ->> Flatter notes
Hot room ->> Sharper notes

-C)Warm up the clarinet
Play gently 4-5 minutes to warm it up.

-D) If A B C are satisfied then get the tuner out.
Set the Frequency to 440Hz.

-E) TUNING:
Usually when you play at a band you need to tune your clarinet with the following steps:
You need to tune multiple notes otherwise you may tune one and throw all the other off.

Here is how.

Blow an open SOL with the right hand all covered.
a)- Pull the Barrel to bring it in tune!
b)- Then go to the high SOL.
If the high SOL is sharp then pull the right hand down. (The bottom half of the clarinet.
Do not correct the high SOL with pulling the barrel otherwise you will throw other notes off.

Now that is for tuning.
-Practice single notes now:
Notice-> When you attack the note fast it may be sharper than normal. So when you test the note wait for it to settle. OR!!!! you can play the note in an exercise like the exercises of mechanism that I show in the videos. So you should play couple notes before the note that you need to tune. So the last note you sustain it and see the tuning of that!
