Μέγεθος καλαμιού(reed number)
#11

tsarouxi ,vlahopoula ,you shouldnt have a problem with 1 or 1 1/2 reeds ,what i notice ill buy 10 of them and only 3 are excellent , 3 passable . and the other 4 dont work with out using sandpaper on them ,the ones that dont work i give them away to old timers ,also a reed might take 2 hours of playing to break in , also on you tube ther are some videos on how to break in youre reeds .

What tseligas suggest here worked just fine for me. I never play with anything below 2. Much more controllable and brighter sound!!

i used those rico 1 or 1 1/2 plastic coated , but alot of them are no good , i got this old timer that comes by were i work ( restaurant ) , and the rico that are not plastic coated i give them to him to keep he takes them home some he gets to work ,,some go in the garbage , he used to make his own from kalami in greece .::: out of 10 reeds if i get 5 or 6 in working order im happy, also i bought a box of rico reeds 1 1/2 (50 pieces) regular not plastic coated , i havent open the box yet , i am just curious to see how many are good .

So I think we all come to the same conclusion.. That Ricoh's quality is not repeatable!
That's why Vandoren probably cost a few bucks more. The must have a better more controlled process. + the reeds come in airsealed so they don't dry.

VandorenSmile

I am open to try other things if you anybody has any suggestions.

BTW I also have a synthetic reed that really does not need warm up but there is something in it that I don't like much!

Well I can see the practicality but I haven't heard of many people using them.
-Won't damage easily.
-Very consistent dry/wet.

I would think that marching bands would use them more....Let's see if somebody else has some Xp with it.
It also has very quick action as I remember.
